The Stadttheater
back to overview
The Stadttheater or city theatre is one of southern Gremany’s most beautiful neo-classical theatre buildings. It was built in 1811 under Grand Duke Carl. He was a descendent of the baronial Dalbergs. He was the last archbishop of Mainz (1802-1803), then Imperial Chancellor (1803-1806), Prince Primate of the Rhein Alliance (1806-1813) and Grand Duke of Frankfurt (1810-1813). He subsequently became Archbishop of Regensburg until his death in 1817.
The Stadttheater will be reopened end of October.
